There was a single drizzle in the capital this Saturday morning. The sky was also cloudy. As the day progressed, the clouds cleared a little, but the sun did not rise.
According to the Meteorological Department, such cloudy skies will remain more or less all over the country. Besides, the trend of rain will also increase in the next 24 hours. A low pressure may also develop.
Meteorologist Tariful Newaz Kabir said, mainly in the north-eastern part of the country, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Sylhet regions will have similar weather conditions as in the capital. He further said, ‘The trend of rain will increase in the next 24 hours. The heat wave that was going on for a few days will subside.
On Friday afternoon, the Meteorological Department issued special warnings in four divisions of the country – Dhaka, Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Khulna. Yesterday, the highest temperature in the country was in Chuadanga – 39.6 degrees Celsius, in Dhaka it was 37.3 degrees Celsius. After that, the Meteorological Department gave good news about the rain today.
At 11 am, the Meteorological Department said in the forecast for the next 72 hours that the temperature will drop by 1 to 2 degrees across the country from today. Apart from this, there is a possibility of rain in all the eight divisions. Districts over which the heat wave is passing through may subside.
The department said the extension of western low pressure is extending from West Bengal to northwest Bay of Bengal. A low pressure may develop in the Bay of Bengal in the forecast for the next five days.
There is a possibility of rain with gusty winds of 45 to 60 km per hour from north and north-west over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Madaripur, Noakhali, Comilla, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet regions. Therefore, the seaports in these areas have been asked to display warning signal number 1.
