16 people died in Cyclone Remal, 250,000 houses were destroyed

Cyclone Remal has killed 16 people in 7 districts of the country. In addition, Cyclone Rimal has destroyed nearly 200,000 houses in 19 coastal districts. Among them, 40 thousand 338 houses were completely destroyed and 1 lakh 33 thousand 528 houses were partially destroyed.

On Wednesday, the National Disaster Response Coordination Center’s daily report to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief provided this information.

Cyclone Remal hit Bangladesh last Sunday night. The storm caused extensive damage. High tides inundate many coastal areas.

State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Muhibbur Rahman informed reporters on Monday, the day after Cyclone Remal, that 35,483 houses had completely collapsed. Apart from this, 1 lakh 14 thousand 992 houses have been partially destroyed.

According to the latest information from the Daily Disaster Report, the most number of houses were destroyed in Khulna district. This district saw the complete destruction of 20,762 houses. The destruction of 10,000 houses occurred in Bagerhat. The rest are in different districts.

According to the information of the daily disaster report, the number of people affected by this storm is about 46 lakh.

The cyclone damaged 19 districts of the coast and surrounding areas. These are Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jhalkathi, Barisal, Patuakhali, Pirojpur, Barguna, Bhola, Feni, Cox’s Bazar, Chittagong, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Chandpur, Narail, Gopalganj, Shariatpur and Jessore. Among these, the deaths occurred in Khulna, Satkhira, Barisal, Patuakhali, Bhola, Chittagong and Pirojpur.
