With the intensification of the monsoon season, many parts of the country are witnessing a rise in precipitation. In recent days, there have been widespread reports of heavy rainfall in several regions, accompanied by mild heatwaves in certain spots. The Bangladesh Meteorological Office has forecasted a high probability of intense precipitation accompanied by strong winds in the Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions from Sunday to Tuesday.
Meteorologist Mr. Islam stated to BBC Bangla that there is a high probability of rainfall, ranging from 75 to 100 percent, in these three divisions. Certain regions may encounter intense to extremely intense rainfall. Generally, rainfall ranging from 23 to 43 mm within a 24-hour period is classified as moderate, but rainfall between 44 to 88 mm is labelled as heavy. Precipitation surpassing 88 mm is categorised as extremely intense.
According to the prognosis, there will be significant rainfall on the day of Eid, namely in different areas of Rangpur, Sylhet, and Mymensingh divisions. Although there will be showers, the day and night temperatures will experience minimal fluctuation. However, a slight rise in night temperature compared to the day is expected nationwide on Qorbani day.
The Meteorological Office has issued a warning about possible discomfort caused by elevated amounts of water vapour in the atmosphere. Residents in the impacted regions are recommended to make arrangements for the meteorological circumstances and implement essential measures to guarantee their well-being and convenience throughout the celebrations.
