The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal No. 3 as a low-pressure area over the Northwest Bay and adjoining coastal areas persists, according to a bulletin from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
The BMD bulletin indicated that deep convection is occurring under the influence of this low-pressure area, resulting in a steep pressure gradient over the North Bay. This situation may cause gusty or squally weather to affect the maritime ports, North Bay, and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.
In response, all fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
Additionally, the BMD has forecast rain or thundershowers in all divisions, including Dhaka, within the next 24 hours starting from 6:00 PM today. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds, are likely to occur at most places over the Rangpur, Mymensingh, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, and at many places over the Rajshahi, Dhaka, and Khulna divisions. Some areas may experience moderately heavy to heavy rainfall.
Day and night temperatures are expected to fall slightly across the country, according to the BMD.
