Textiles and Jute Minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak has commented that the government is thinking afresh about state-owned jute mills. He said, ‘I want to bring back the golden days of jute. Everything necessary will be done for this. The jute mills leased to the private sector did not yield the expected results. As a result, the government is rethinking.

Textiles and Jute Minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak said these things in a press briefing at the premises of Khalishpur Jute Mills on Saturday after visiting four jute mills in Khulna. The matter was informed in the press release sent by the ministry.

Textile and jute minister said, ‘We are trying to be the first in the world in jute production. The location of the jute mills in Khulna is great. There is a demand for economic zones here. We are thinking of doing something good. We will take action according to everyone’s expectations.

Textiles and Jute Minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak yesterday visited Daulatpur Jute Mills, Platinum Jubilee Jute Mills, and Crescent Jute Mills besides Khalishpur. Apart from this, he also visited Khulna Textile Mills. At this time, Khulna City Corporation Mayor Talukder Abdul Khalek, Khulna-3 Member of Parliament SM Kamal Hossain, BJMC Chairman Farooq Ahmad, BTMC Chairman Brigadier General Md. Ziaul Haque and others.
