Residents across the country have just experienced relief from heavy rains caused by a depression. However, there are growing concerns about a new low-pressure system forming in the Bay of Bengal. This system could bring more rain in the coming days.
According to the latest weather forecast, light to moderate rain or thunderstorms may hit several regions. Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chittagong, Barisal, and Sylhet divisions may experience these conditions. One or two places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Khulna divisions may also see rain. Temporary gusty winds could accompany the thunderstorms in some areas.
Moderate to heavy rainfall is also likely in some parts of the country. Day and night temperatures are expected to remain steady across all regions. A slight rise in temperatures has already been noted. On Tuesday, Rajarhat recorded the highest temperature at 36.5°C. Dhaka saw temperatures climb to 34.8°C.
The Meteorological Department predicts a decrease in rainfall between Wednesday and Friday. However, light to moderate rain could continue in coastal districts during this period. Between September 21 and 22, a low-pressure system may form in the Bay of Bengal. This could lead to continuous rainfall lasting two to three days.
Meanwhile, the reduced rainfall has caused a rise in temperatures across the country. The Flood Forecasting and Warning Center has issued updates on river levels. Rivers in Rangpur, Sylhet, Chittagong, Dhaka, and Khulna divisions are expected to see a decrease in water levels. However, the water level in the Padma River in Rajshahi is expected to rise over the next four days. Even with this increase, the levels are predicted to stay below the danger mark.
Out of 116 monitoring points across the country’s rivers, water levels are rising at 24 points, while decreasing at the rest.
