Diptesh Chakraborty: The news about opening the Kaptai Dam is a rumor.

Latest update on Kaptai Lake water level (as of 1 PM):

The current water level of Kaptai Lake is 103 feet (MSL), up from 101 feet yesterday. The water level has risen by 2 feet in the past 24 hours. However, the danger level is 108 feet, which means the water is still 5 feet below the danger level. Therefore, there is no risk of releasing water from the Kaptai Dam at this time. At least for the next two days, no water will be released from the Kaptai Dam.

If the rainfall continues and the water level approaches 108 feet, water may be released in a limited capacity with prior notice and warnings, according to the Kaptai Hydroelectric Power Plant authority.

I posted this after speaking with the Kaptai Dam authorities a short while ago. Please refrain from spreading rumors.
